School Wide Behavior Management Program

Dear BCCS Families,

This year we will be implementing new schoolwide rules and a positive behavior system to support them. Students will be taught the school rules in class, and all staff members will consistently reinforce these rules throughout the school day and in all of the school environment. I am attaching a copy of the rules so that you can also discuss them with your student.

Teachers will reinforce these school rules by rewarding positive behavior throughout the school day. Students will earn Points for Brighter Choices that will be tracked in your student’s Class Dojo account. Teachers will give students up to one point per period (up to 7 points per day). Each week, students who earn enough points will have a classroom choice activity, and monthly, students who earn at least 85% of their points will attend a Brighter Choice Positive Behavior Celebration.

In addition, students will be able to exchange points for prizes and experiences like being a principal for the day, having extra recess time, or being the line leader for a week. Students will set goals about saving their points at the beginning of the week and will reflect on their behavior and the rules they had trouble with or followed well at the end of the week.

In order for this new system to be a success, we are asking you to have conversations regularly about the importance of following school rules. We encourage you to ask students about their points and their goals so that we can all help our students make Brighter Choices.

Sincerely,

Mr. Petraglia

BCCS Principal
