At Brighter Choice Community School, we are committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, safe and respected and is inspired to reach their full potential and achieve readiness for college and careers.

Our mission is to provide high quality instruction that promotes critical thinking, curiosity and creativity while empowering students to develop strong social skills, make good choices and become responsible, compassionate members of our community. At Brighter Choice we believe students always come first and all that we do has the students’ best interest in mind.

Diversity and inclusion are celebrated and honored through our school’s curriculum and monthly celebrations. The totality of these vital components allows us to prepare our children for a brighter future.

We have a robust Music Arts Program where students are afforded opportunities to not only learn about music studies, but how to play an instrument. Aside from Music Arts, our school provides our students with learning experiences associated with Theater and Performing Arts.

Aside from Music and Theater Arts, we offer Food, Nutrition and Gardening Classes. Through our partnership with Edible School Yard, students are provided with educational opportunities associated with Cooking, Planting and Healthy Eating. Edible School Yard offers our students weekly classes in both the classroom and our beautiful and vibrant exterior garden space.

The program offers students a solid education in Music and opportunities to learn instruments such as keyboards, guitar, drums and bass. In addition to Music Studies, our school offers students opportunities to engage in learning experiences associated with art, dance, theatre and drama. through our community-based partners. Through our partnership and collaboration with our Music Department, BCCS has three major performances per year: Winter Show, Black History Show and Spring Show. These performances are a major hit in the community as they contain elaborate story lines, music production, choreographed dancing, and professional stage sound and lighting.

New York Edge is at the school five days a week and offers a wide variety of services such as enrichment, after school programs, academic and social emotional support and other partnerships. NIA supports our school during After School Hours and provides both enrichment and academic experiences for our students.
