Academic Programs and Community Partnerships:

At Brighter Choice Community School, we offer a rigorous curriculum designed to engage and challenge our students. Our academic programs include:

1. Core
Curriculum

Our Curriculum provides a strong foundation in the Science of Reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies and fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

2. Dual
Language Program

Each grade at BCCS from PreK to 5th Grade has a Dual Language class. In our Dual Language students are taught in two languages: English and Spanish. The goal of this program is for students to be able to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish. In Dual Language classes, Spanish and English are used equally.

3. Music
Arts Integration

Our school has a music program to enhance learning and foster creativity amongst our students.  We also offer opportunities for our students to engage in experiences associated with art, dance, theatre and drama through our community-based partners.

4. Special
Education

We are committed to meeting the needs of all learners. Our special education program offers individualized support and services to ensure that every student can thrive both academically and socially.

5. Community
Partnership

Organizational Partnerships play a vital role in our community and neighborhood. We partner with a Community Based Organization, New York Edge, to help support our students’ academic and social needs. New York Edge offers a wide variety of services such as enrichment and after school programs, academic and social emotional support and other partnerships. We also partner with Edible Schoolyard NYC. Edible Schoolyard helps support our students and school community through educational experiences associated with gardening, planting, cooking and healthy eating. Partnering with community organizations positively impacts student achievement and enriches their school experience.  These partnerships help provide positive social and academic experiences for our students and promote ultimate success.  Some of the other organizations we partner with are NIA Community Services Network, The Aster Initiative and The Mental Health Continuum.
